ASRock Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT Phantom Gaming OC

By | November 8, 2019

These are the next versions of Radeon RX 5700 in the manufacturer's offer. Phantom Gaming models are factory overclocked and use proprietary, effective cooling.

Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT cards are very popular among demanding players. No wonder that ASRock has prepared here more non-reference models – after the Taichi version, the manufacturer presented constructions from the Phantom Gaming line.

The new models are equipped with proprietary cooling, which is to ensure optimal working temperatures and high working culture (at low load it works in passive mode – 0dB Silent Cooling). It is worth noting, however, that the entire structure occupies almost three places for expansion cards.

The manufacturer used here a massive radiator with several heat pipes, and the active part consists of three fans (the middle one is decorated with effective Polychrome Sync backlight). In addition, a metal backplate was found on the reverse of the laminate.

Four video outputs are available: HDMI 2.0b and three DisplayPot 1.4. Electricity is supplied by two 8-pin connectors, and the manufacturer recommends using a 600 W (RX 5700) or 700 W (RX 5700 XT) power supply – according to our review, these are grossly exaggerated estimates.

Radeon RX 5700 Phantom Gaming OC and Radeon RX 5700 XT Phantom Gaming OC – differences

The differences between the cards come down to the graphics processor. In the weaker model Radeon RX 5700 it is the AMD Navi 10 XL system with 2304 shading units, and in the more efficient Radeon RX 5700 XT the AMD Navi 10 XT system with 2560 shading units. In both cases, the manufacturer also used 8 GB of GDDR6 256-bit memory.

The note OC indicates the factory increased clock speeds, but in the case of the Phantom Gaming version, the increase in performance should be rather symbolic. However, nothing prevents you from playing overclocking yourself (you can use the proprietary ASRock Tweak application here).

Will ASRock Phantom Gaming models really interest players? Everything will depend on the quality of the cooling used and the price of the new versions. For now, the manufacturer has not yet disclosed details about the availability of cards.
