On January 1, 2020, the rules for settling accounts with the tax office changed. We now pay PIT, CIT and VAT taxes to one individual tax account, called a tax micro-account. What is this and – above all – how to meet him?
How do you check your account number at the tax office?
To check the account number at the tax office you can go to the unit appropriate for your place of residence, but this is not the only option. You don't have to leave the house – all you have to do is go to the site podatki.gov.pl and you will use the Tax Micro Account Generator. Provide your NIP or PESEL (if you are a natural person) on this page and click "Generate", and after a moment your micro tax account will appear.
It's simple, fast and available at any time of the day or night. You can use the Tax Micro Account Generator on both your computer and smartphone and – although it's obvious – you won't pay for it.
The generated number consists of 2 letters and 24 digits: it is PL, then a permanent number: 10100071222, then 1 or 2 (depending on whether the micro-account is generated from the PESEL or NIP number), then our PESEL or NIP number, and if after all, the numbers are less than 24, then the appropriate number 0 is added.
What is a tax micro account?
A tax micro account is the individual account of each PIT, CIT and VAT taxpayer. We will use it whenever we pay the taxes listed (for other taxes, we will still be able to use the tax accounts of individual tax offices).
New the tax micro-account is assigned to a specific person and is permanent. Changing your place of work or place of residence, as well as closing your business or opening a new one, will not have any effect – the invoice number will remain the same.
Who needs to generate a tax micro account?
Theoretically, the answer is: everyone. At the same time: everyone already has this account, a the only task is to check his number when you have to pay tax. For most of us, this does not apply, because our employers deal with the settlement of taxes, and we have overpayments for the annual PIT settlement.
However, every PIT, CIT and VAT taxpayer has a tax micro account. You do not have to hurry with its "generation" – if necessary, just look at the aforementioned page and thus "get it".
