The new Radeon can mix up the medium segment of playing cards. Performance results in the 3DMark benchmark look promising.
Are you planning to buy an inexpensive gaming graphics card? If so, it is worth refraining from buying, because the end of the year will bring an interesting duel here – the Radeon RX 5500 will face the GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER. We just got to know the performance results of the new Radeon.
Radeon RX 5500 – a card to play in Full HD
The new card initially appeared only in the version for ready-made computer sets (OEM), but eventually it will also be available normally – in retail. We know that non-referential versions of individual partners will appear on store shelves.

The manufacturer advertises the Radeon RX 5500 as a model for playing in Full HD. On board was the Navi 14 graphics chip with 1408 stream processors and 4 or 8 GB of GDDR6 128-bit memory.
Radeon RX 5500 performance results
According to the manufacturer's declaration, the new card is to be more efficient than the old Radeon RX 480 and the competitive GeForce GTX 1650 model. From the tests of the OEM version we know that the RX 5500 will be comparable in performance to the Radeon RX 580 and weaker than the GeForce GTX 1660.
We are most interested in non-reference versions. Recently, the 3DMark database has entries with information about the performance of ASUS and Gigabyte models with 8 GB of VRAM (both most likely work with factory-raised clocks).

FS – 14300
FSE – 6800

In the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark, the cards received about 4,600 / 4,800 GPU Score points, so comparable to the Radeon RX 590 and GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER models.
The situation looks better in the 3DMark Fire Strike test – the new Radeon gets here about 14 200/14 300 points. The result can therefore be compared to the competitive GeForce GTX 1660.
When the premiere of the Radeon RX 5500 graphics card
Last but not least, the premiere of non-referential Radeon RX 5500 models is reportedly scheduled for December 12. The price will decide about the profitability of the purchase. Unfortunately, this one is still shrouded in mystery fog.
